HOW TO INTRODUCE EXERCISE TO YOUR WEEKLY SCHEDULE


Make Your Workouts Fun


The biggest mistake that I made when I first began introducing exercise to my weekly schedule, was choosing the wrong kind of workouts. It was an aerobic 6 week DVD fitness programme that I felt was repetitive and after two weeks...boring. I was 3 stone over weight after having three operations for an chronic illness that I suffered with, I needed something in my life that was fun but instead ended up with a bunch of DVDs that I bought which were not cutting it. Yes, I lost around 1/2 stone in weight but I was bored... and I mean really bored... ready to give up! I needed a weekly workout schedule that I knew I would enjoy! That I would actually stick to. Don't make the same mistake I did! Make it fun!


We have so much choice when it comes to exercising:


  • HIIT ( High Intensity Interval Training)

  • Kickboxing

  • Cardio Circuit

  • Weight Lifting

  • Yoga

  • Pilates

  • Dancing

  • Aerobics

  • Martial Arts

  • Jiu Jitsu

  • Running

  • Cycling

  • And much more

Exercise at the Gym or Home


Whether we exercise from home or at gym, it doesn't matter what you choose, both bring about results. What's most important is whether you enjoy it, because if you don't, the weekly workout schedule will phase out as you get bored and fed up of doing something you don't really love, just like I did.


So what I did I do? I searched for something that would give me a choice of workouts to do, not just one type of fitness programme but many! I came across a site that had so much choice, it's a bit like Netflix except you have a choice of fitness workouts to choose from. I then chose a MMA style workout because I knew I loved Martial Arts.


I put the fitness programme calendar on my wall. It would last for 30 days and includes a nutritional plan but I was determined so I followed the schedule and saw a mayor change in my body....I then another 30 days....and saw even more change! Gradually I was getting to where I wanted to be.


The Weekly Schedule


The weekly schedule doesn't have to be hard. If you're not ready to begin working out 6 days a week then begin with 4 days. Gradually build up! What you do need to do though, is put your workouts in your diary and write them on your calendar otherwise they won't get done.


Here's a step by step guide on how to introduce exercise to your weekly schedule:


  • Choose the kind of workouts you will enjoy.

  • Decide whether you will workout from home or at the gym

  • Search the kind of workouts you want to do online or at your local gym

  • Choose when to do those workouts, and schedule them in your diary

  • Book your workout slots at the gym in advance.

  • Write your weekly workouts on your calendar.

  • Incorporate a nutritional plan to go alongside it.

  • Create "fitness space" in your home to workout.

  • Cross off your workout on your calendar when you complete it, day by day...including Rest Days.

  • Reward yourself at the end of each month or at the end of the fitness programme you have chosen,

Then begin the whole process all over again. Choosing a different fitness programme / gym workout to spice things up!


These are simple but effective steps, that have changed my life for the better. I'm more confident and feel in control of my health and wellness.
